Robert White
Jewellers have been manufacturing heirloom jewellery since the business
was established by S Knowles and Sons in 1878, and later purchased by
Robert in 1974. This makes it one of the oldest manufacturing jewellery
companies in Australia.
All jewellery is created in our workroom. The design team, under the direction of Robert White, boasts nearly 80 years of experience: in fact, everyone at our Brisbane Arcade showroom is a jewellery designer. Robert is a manufacturing goldsmith and registered valuer.
Robert White Jewellers are diamond specialists, importing the finest quality diamonds from the cutting centres of the world. The majority of our diamonds have been scientifically certified in independent diamond laboratories worldwide: DCLA (Diamond Certification Laboratory of Australia), GIA (Gemological Institute of America), HRD (Antwerp World Diamond Centre, Belguim), and GSL (Gem Studies Laboratory of Australia).
As a company, Robert White Jewellers takes care to check all diamonds for the 4Cs: clarity, colour, cut, and carat weight.
Clarity refers to the clearness (or purity) of a diamond, determined by the number, size, nature, and location of internal imperfections (inclusions) and external blemishes. Our diamonds are flawless, near -flawless, or contain inclusions so slight they are barely discernable when magnified.
Colour of a diamond also determines its value, and is rated on a scale from colourless (white), through slightly tinted white, to yellow and brown. We select and sell the finest white diamonds.
Diamonds are also sometimes found in specialty colours, like the rare Australian Argyle coloured diamonds.
Cut is important for a diamond to shine. A well-cut diamond, with well-balanced proportions and high polish, can make light behave in breathtaking ways. A well-cut diamond will direct more light through the crown, making the most of the diamond's optical properties. It's bright, fiery, symmetrical, and sparkles with light.
Carat is the unit of weight for the diamond. Value per carat increases with carat size, because larger diamonds are rarer.
